      The Baader Mark III Hyperion Zoom 8-24mm (Manufacturer Part Number: 2454824) is a highly versatile, premium astronomical eyepiece that provides the equivalent of five separate fixed-focal-length eyepieces in one body. It eliminates the need to constantly 


      The Baader Mark III Hyperion Zoom 8-24mm eyepiece features an excellent modular mechanical design, making it highly compatible with standard telescopes, select spotting scopes, astronomical cameras, and specialized optical accessories.

      Telescope Compatibility

      1.25″ and 2″ Focusers: The eyepiece includes interchangeable dual barrels. It works natively with any standard 1.25″ or 2″ telescope focuser or star diagonal across refractors, Schmidt-Cassegrains (SCTs), Maksutovs, and Newtonians/Dobsonians.Filter Threading: Both nosepieces are threaded internally to accept standard astronomy filters (1.25″ and 2″ respectively).

      Camera & Astrophotography Compatibility (M43 Thread)

      Direct Eyepiece Projection: By removing the adjustable rubber eyecup on the top lens, a male M43 photo-video thread is revealed. DSLR and Mirrorless Cameras: Using the Baader M43 to T-2 Adapter (#2958080), you can adapt the eyepiece to a standard male T-2 thread (M42 × 0.75). From there, you can connect a standard camera-specific T-ring to attach your DSLR or mirrorless body for rigid, secure projection astrophotography.

      Spotting Scope Compatibility

      The telescope-side of the main body (with nosepieces removed) reveals internal threads allowing direct attachment to terrestrial spotting scopes:Zeiss Thread (M45): Connects to premium spotting scopes like the Zeiss Diascope.Celestron/Synta Thread (M36.4 or 1 3/8″): Attaches directly to Celestron Ultima spotting scope bodies.Note on Back-Focus: Because the Mark III has a slightly shorter back-focus configuration than the newer Mark IV, some 1.25″ straight-through spotting scopes may struggle to reach focus at infinity without specific extension adapters.

      Key Features & Technical Specifications

      Focal Lengths: Click-stops at 8, 12, 16, 20, and 24mm, with the ability to smoothly zoom between settings.

      Apparent Field of View (AFOV): Ranges from 50° at 24mm to a wide 68° at 8mm.

      Optical Design: Features a 7-element, 4-group lens arrangement with Baader’s Phantom Group multi-coatings for outstanding contrast and color fidelity.

      Parfocal: Requires little to no refocusing as you zoom through the focal range.

      Dual Barrel: Comes equipped with both 1.25″ and 2″ nosepieces, both fully threaded for standard astronomical filters.

      Eye Relief: A comfortable 12 to 15mm, accommodating for stargazers who wear eyeglasses.
