The Calumet 4X Magnifier (commonly known as the Calumet Aspheric 4X Focusing Loupe) is a high-grade optical magnifying tool designed primarily for fine-focusing on large format camera ground glass and inspecting film transparencies

Key Features and Design

Optics: Manufactured using premium aspheric glass (originally produced for Calumet by Rodenstock), offering edge-to-edge sharpness with virtually zero optical distortion.

Retractable Sleeve: Features an adjustable, extendable/retractable barrel sleeve. Extending the sleeve blocks ambient room light for critical focusing on a ground glass or light table; retracting it lets in side light to evaluate photographic prints.

Application: Provides a 4X magnification level, which is widely considered the sweet spot for large format photography because it magnifies fine details for sharp focus without making the distracting texture of the ground glass or Fresnel screen overpowering.
