The Canon AF35M, released in 1979 as the “Autoboy” in Japan and “Sure Shot” in the US, was the world’s first 35mm autofocus camera using a near-infrared beam system. This sturdy, compact camera features a sharp 38mm f/2.8 lens, automated motorized film handling (loading, advance, rewind), and a pop-up flash.
