Canon Extension Tube EF12

The original Canon Extension Tube EF12 (Mark I) is a 12mm hollow spacer mounted between an EOS camera body and EF/EF-S lens to enable close-up/macro photography without optical quality loss. It features electronic contacts to maintain autofocus and aperture control. It reduces minimum focusing distance, ideal for shorter focal lengths.

Key Features & Characteristics:

Purpose: Increases lens magnification by moving the lens further from the sensor.

Optics: Contains no glass elements, preventing image degradation.

Compatibility: Designed for Canon EF and EF-S mount lenses.

Functionality: Retains electronic communication, allowing aperture control and autofocus (though manual focus is often preferred in macro).

Limitation: It is not compatible with certain specialized lenses like the MP-E 65mm f/2.8, 14mm f/2.8L, or 15mm f/2.8 fisheye.

Stacking: can be stacked with other tubes (like the EF25) for greater magnification
