Canon MI-A Adapter
Compatibility
Because it relies entirely on a unique, proprietary clip-on physical molding, this adapter has zero universal cross-brand capability.Fully Compatible ModelsThe MI-A adapter is native to and only physically fits the specific 1980s dual-focal point-and-shoot series it was bundled with:Canon Sure Shot Tele (US / North American Market Name) flynngraphics.caCanon Sure Shot Tele Quartz Date flynngraphics.caCanon Autoboy Tele (Japanese Market Name) global.canonCanon Prima Tele / Top Twin
The Canon MI-A Multi-Image Adapter is a passive, mechanical trick-photography attachment released in 1986 flynngraphics.ca. Molded out of matte-black plastic, it acts as a literal “lens mask” for shooting double exposures on a single piece of 35mm film.
Physical Structure: It is a small rectangular hood that clips onto the front of the lens barrel flynngraphics.ca. Looking through it, you will see a built-in vertical plastic wall that completely blocks light from entering exactly half of the lens field of view.
Mechanism: It does not contain any glass elements or electrical contacts flynngraphics.ca. Instead, it relies on being manually detached, flipped, or rotated 180 degrees between exposures. This allows you to expose the first half of a film frame with your first subject, mask that image, and safely expose the second half of the frame with a completely different subject.
The adapter is in excellent cosmetic condition, please see photos provided
