The Canon PAL MV500i is a compact, metallic-silver MiniDV digital video camcorder. It records using the PAL television standard (625 lines, 50 fields)

Format & Media: Uses MiniDV tape cassettes (Consumer digital VCR SD system) with SP and LP recording speeds.

Image Sensor: 1/6-inch CCD with approximately 540,000 total pixels (approx. 340,000 effective pixels).

Lens & Zoom: Features an 18x optical zoom Canon video lens (2.8–50.4mm, f/1.6) combined with a 360x digital zoom.

Display & Viewfinder: Equipped with a flip-out 2.5-inch color LCD screen and a built-in electronic viewfinder.

Image Stabilization: Built-in electronic image stabilizer to reduce handheld camera shake.

Special MV500i “i” Additions: Unlike the base MV500 model, the MV500i includes digital line-in, analog line-in, DV recording, AV insert, and audio dubbing capabilities via its IEEE 1394 (DV) terminal.

Shooting Modes & Effects: Includes Auto, Sports, Portrait, Spotlight, Sand & Snow, Low Light, and Night Mode, alongside digital effects, faders, and manual controls for focus and white balance.

Audio: PCM digital sound supporting 16-bit (48 kHz, 2-channel) or 12-bit (32 kHz, 4-channel) recording
