The Canon Canonet QL19 is a legendary 35mm rangefinder film camera. It is highly regarded for its compact build, fast and sharp 45mm f/1.9 lens, and Canon’s Quick Load (QL) system, which eliminates the frustration of manually threading film leaders.

Key Specifications & Features

Lens: Canon SE 45mm f/1.9 (5 elements in 4 groups), delivering superb contrast and low-light capabilities.

Shutter: Copal leaf shutter with speeds ranging from 1/4 to 1/500 second, plus Bulb (B).

Exposure Modes: Offers Shutter-Priority Automatic Exposure (using a built-in CdS light meter) alongside Full Manual Control.

Film Loading: Equipped with the QL (Quick Loading) system. You simply lay the film leader across the sprockets and close the back; the mechanism catches the film automatically, making reloads incredibly fast.

Focusing: Coupled rangefinder with a bright, overlaid focusing patch in the viewfinder for precise focusing.Film Speed (ISO): Supports ISO 25 to 800.

Power: Originally relied on a 1.3V mercury battery to power the light meter. Modern shooters typically use an adapter or readily available 1.5V batteries, often requiring slight compensation for the voltage difference.
