The M42-AI adapter ring is a manual, all-metal mount converter that allows vintage M42 (42mm screw) lenses to be used on Nikon F-mount AI (and later) DSLRs and film cameras. It provides secure, non-electrical mounting, allowing manual or aperture-priority shooting. Options often include optical glass to achieve infinity focus or are designed as focusing-only “macro” adapters.
