Its primary functions are to prevent unwanted stray light and lens flare by extending the lens’s shading, and to protect the lens’s front element from accidental impact, scratches, and splashes. The hood features an anodized aluminum alloy body and an anti-reflective, matte finish on its inner surface to further reduce flare.
