A Rodenstock Konterring (counter ring or jam ring) is a vintage metal retaining nut made in Germany to securely mount darkroom enlarging lenses onto unthreaded lens boards
Key Details
Function: Acts as a locknut or jam ring. You screw the enlarging lens through a hole in a flat lens board and tighten the counter ring from the back to lock the lens firmly in place.
Sizes: Commonly found in specific internal thread diameters to match standard enlarging threads, such as 28mm or 39mm (M39).
Use Case: Primarily used in film photography darkrooms for enlargers and large-format optical setups
